Dr. Prakash Gurung is the Founder and Group CEO of Provila Holding Co., Ltd., a Thailand-based logistics and international trade services company.
With professional experience in logistics operations, supply chain management, international business, and import-export coordination, he founded Provila with a clear mission: to make logistics more transparent, customer-focused, and accessible to businesses trading with Thailand.
His approach is built on three principles: a people-centered working culture, clear communication for international businesses, and transparent quotations that help customers understand expected logistics costs before proceeding.
Through Provila, he helps businesses coordinate international freight forwarding, customs clearance, cross-border transportation, import-export documentation, and relevant regulatory support. His goal is to simplify complex trade processes so entrepreneurs can focus on building and growing their businesses.
Born in Nepal and building his professional career in Thailand, Prakash brings together international business education and practical supply chain experience. His long-term vision is to build a trusted, technology-enabled logistics company serving businesses across Asia and international markets.
My Journey from Nepal to Building a Logistics Company in Thailand
From a Small Mountain Village to an International Business Career
I was born in Nigale, a small village in Nepal's Bagmati Province. Growing up in a mountain community, I developed a strong ambition to pursue higher education and build a company of my own.
That ambition eventually brought me to Thailand, where I studied International Business at Ramkhamhaeng University while beginning my professional career in logistics.
Building My Foundation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
In 2012, I began working as a Logistics Officer at Power Corporation (Thailand) Co., Ltd., part of The UGA Group. Through my work, I gained practical experience in logistics operations and progressively advanced to the position of Supply Chain Manager.
During this period, I also pursued an MBA in Finance and Banking at Ramkhamhaeng University, studying in the evenings while continuing my professional responsibilities.
I later advanced to the role of Operations Manager at The UGA Group's head office, where I was responsible for coordinating import and export operations across the group's businesses. This experience helped me understand how logistics, financial processes, international trade documentation, and operational planning connect across different business activities.
To deepen my knowledge, I subsequently pursued Doctoral Studies in Management Studies, with a focus on Logistics and Supply Chain Management, through IBMS in India.
The Decision to Establish Provila
After gaining practical experience in logistics and supply chain management, I proposed establishing a dedicated logistics business unit to The UGA Group's board of directors. The proposal reflected my ambition to focus on logistics and help more entrepreneurs navigate international trade.
Following discussions with the board, I received approval to establish and lead an independent logistics business. This opportunity became the foundation for Provila.
I saw an opportunity to build a company around three principles: respect for people, transparent pricing, and clear communication.
I wanted to create a working environment that emphasizes accountability and outcomes rather than measuring employees solely by the hours they spend in an office. I also wanted to help international entrepreneurs operating in Thailand overcome communication barriers and better understand local trade procedures.
Finally, I believed customers deserved clearer quotations and a better understanding of logistics costs. By agreeing on quoted charges before execution and communicating any necessary changes transparently, Provila aims to reduce unexpected costs and build long-term trust.
For me, founding Provila was not simply about starting another logistics company. It was an opportunity to put my experience, values, and entrepreneurial ambition into practice.
My Mission: Fair, Transparent and Customer-Focused Logistics
I founded Provila with the belief that logistics should work better for both the people who deliver the service and the businesses that depend on it.
1. A People-Centered Working Culture
I believe employees perform at their best when they have trust, flexibility, clear responsibilities, and measurable goals. My vision is to build a working culture that emphasizes outcomes, accountability, and collaboration rather than relying solely on physical office attendance or working hours. Where operational requirements permit, we aim to support flexible and location-independent working arrangements.
2. Clear Communication for International Businesses
International trade can be complicated, especially for entrepreneurs who operate in Thailand but are unfamiliar with the local language, documentation, or regulatory processes.
Provila aims to bridge these communication gaps through a multinational team and coordinated support for customers navigating import-export procedures. Our objective is to help customers understand what is required, which steps must be completed, and how their shipments will move through the process.
3. Transparent Quotations and Predictable Costs
I believe customers should understand the expected costs before committing to a shipment.
Provila's approach is to provide detailed quotations, explain applicable charges, and obtain customer agreement before proceeding with the quoted scope of work. If additional charges or changes become necessary, we aim to communicate the reason and obtain the appropriate approval before proceeding, subject to applicable requirements and operational circumstances.
Our goal is to reduce unexpected costs, improve financial planning, and build lasting customer relationships through transparency and accountability.
My principle is simple: customers deserve to understand what they are paying for, why they are paying it, and what service they can expect in return.
What We Help Businesses Achieve
At Provila, we aim to simplify the journey from a business idea to the movement of goods across international borders.
Supporting Importers Entering the Thai Market
For businesses planning to import products into Thailand, we coordinate relevant services that may include company establishment support, import licensing assistance, Thai FDA registration support where applicable, international freight forwarding, customs clearance, and delivery to the customer's warehouse.
Supporting Thai Exporters Reaching International Markets
For exporters, we coordinate export documentation and licensing support where required, export customs clearance, international freight arrangements, and delivery to the agreed destination through our logistics network.
Coordinating the End-to-End Process
Every shipment has different requirements. Our role is to help customers understand the process, coordinate the relevant parties, communicate expected costs, and manage the movement of goods from origin to destination.
By bringing multiple services together, we aim to reduce administrative complexity and give entrepreneurs a clearer path to conducting international business.
Our long-term ambition is to build Provila into a trusted, technology-enabled logistics company serving businesses across Asia and international markets.
My Vision for the Future of Logistics and International Trade
I believe international trade and logistics will remain essential to the global economy as businesses continue to source products, serve customers, and build partnerships across borders.
My vision is to help make international trade more accessible to businesses of different sizes by providing practical support, transparent pricing, clear communication, and dependable logistics coordination.
I want Provila to become a trusted logistics partner that customers can rely on not only for moving goods, but also for understanding the processes that make international trade possible.
Our long-term ambition is to build a leading, technology-enabled logistics company originating in Thailand and expanding across Asia and beyond.
For me, success means more than business growth. It means helping entrepreneurs turn ideas into operating businesses, creating a supportive environment for our people, and building lasting relationships based on fairness, transparency, and trust.
